separation anxiety...

i am finally back. so many things have happened since i last wrote. first of all, school is officially out and i am a teacher on vacation! i really want to relax this summer, but i also want to get tons of writing done and send my book out to publishers. i also want to get my driver's license. if i get those things done i will feel great. however, i want to make sure that i relax as well.

sooo, i am going to a conference tomorrow with the people from my new school. it is an educational conference in stamford, ct, where educators discuss a plethora of educational issues, as well as write lessons and plan curriculum for the school year. i am feeling excited and kind of nervous, because these people are new to me, and i will be around them for 3 whole days at a hotel. 3 days away from my boo? i don't know if i can handle that. i love sleeping with him at night, and seeing him in the morning. we will be apart for 72 hours! that is a long time! i expressed my separation anxiety to my husband and he said "baby, you will be back on weds. you are not going forever." haha. although that is true, i guess i am not looking forward to sleeping in a hotel room with a stranger. we all have roommates. sigh. i am too grown for a damn roommate.

i think i have separation anxiety because my husband and i had an international-long-distance relationship for years. it was really hard, but we were persistent and we prevailed! thanks to the creator for that. so now the thought of leaving his side makes me sad. however, i know i will be back sooner than i think! sleeping will be the hardest part is all....i guess i will have to call him before i sleep :-) other than that, i look forward to meeting and hanging out with my new colleagues and learning more about how to be a better teacher. one of the workshops i am attending is titled: how to really assess reading. i really hope to learn from this because i find most reading assessments to be biased. perhaps we will also receive materials as well? that would be great. well, i guess i need to start packing! i also have to start cooking because my boo will be home by 8pm....baked bbq salmon and rice/beans is on the menu....woohoo!!!!

peace & nappiness

have an awesome time and let me know how that workshop goes because i also feel that there is a bias in the way children are assessed in reading. and hopefully, while you're sending your book out to publishers, i can actually write the ending to mine! lol. is yours the book of poems that you've been putting together? xoxo!
